Landon will speak to the founding and history of Hastings Crossing BIA, Canada’s first ‘social innovation BIA’, and how their continued work is helping to uplift the Downtown Eastside community, from small businesses and social enterprises, to property owners and commercial land trusts. This presentation will dive into how one of the smallest funded BIAs in Vancouver tackles high-level change in the DTES through its unique programming, advocacy, and bridge-building between the community, businesses, and property owners, leads to a more vibrant, healthy and diverse area for all.
